FAQ


What do I need to bring?

Please bring the following items with you on the trip:

  • Bible

  • Devotional

  • Sunscreen

  • Mosquito repellant

  • Raincoat

  • Work gloves

  • Water bottle

  • Swimming suit

  • Beach towel

  • Towel for staying at COMMUNITY OF HOPE

  • Closed toed shoes

  • Work clothes

  • Ladies dress/skirt/ capris

  • Men long pants and button-down shirt

  • Toiletries

  • Snacks with Ziplock bags

  • Spending money


What is the dress code?

  • NO YOGA PANTS/LEGGINGS OR BIKE SHORTS

  • NO SPAGHETTI STRAP SHIRTS OR SPAGHETTI STRAP DRESSES

  • NO SHORTS SHORTER THAN THREE FINGERS ABOVE THE KNEE

  • NO SKIRTS/DRESSES SHORTER THAN THREE FINGERS ABOVE THE KNEE

  • NO LOW-CUT SHIRTS

  • AT CHURCH AND SOME MINISTRY SITES LADIES MUST WEAR CAPRIS, DRESS OR SKIRT.

  • MEN MUST WEAR LONG PANTS, BUTTON DOWN SHIRT AND CLOSED TOED SHOES.

  • If you have tattoos or earrings, please understand that culturally the Dominican Republic is very

    conservative (Monday- Friday 9-5 and church) Ladies please be prepared to remove or cover up

    nose, lip, eyebrow piercings. Men, please take out piercings. At ministry sites or church please

    try to cover tattoos as best as you can. *If you are planning on working only at the farm you do

    not need to cover tattoos or piercings.


What will we be doing on the trip?

These are some of the possible activities that we be participating in:

  • Construction - Mission 2535 is growing and has projects on their grounds that need work.

  • House Visitation - Door to door ministry getting to know a family, praying for

    the family, and giving a bag of groceries on behalf of the local

    church.

  • Dump Ministry - Visit and share with 50+ workers at the dump. Be prepared

    to share testimonies, pray, and socialize with workers.

    Share a lunch and give ice cold water to each worker.

  • Seniors Home - Visit with men and women at a local senior home in Villa

    Tapia. Play Dominos with the men, paint the ladies’ nails,

    give a snack.

  • Orphanage - is run between June-September Play with children, share a snack, and encourage the children with songs and bible lesson.

  • Baseball - Play and interact with local boys at the baseball field. Be prepared to share testimonies.

  • Special Needs - Interact with children who have some disabilities, such as

    hearing impaired. (Only during school year) May have opportunity to run special events in the summer.

  • Youth Rehab - Visit and encourage young boys from age 9-18 who struggle with drugs, alcohol, gambling, and behavioral issues. Be prepared to share testimonies.

  • Hospital Visitation - Visit a local hospital, praying for those in the hospital and bringing much needed food and hygiene products.

  • Juvenile Detention - Visit a detention center with 100 youth. Sing, and share testimonies…snack and soda. Limited to 15 people, passport numbers and list of those interested 7 days in advance.


We typically meet at the church and carpool together to and from the airport.

How will I get to and from the airport?


You will need to provide a copy of your current passport as well as emergency contact information. Your trip leader will inform you of any other documentation needed.

What documentation will I need?


The cost of the trip is as follows:

  • Cost of airfare and transportation

  • and $695 to Mission 2535 for room and board.

  • It is advised that you bring some spending money as well. There is a gift and snack shop at Mission 2535.
