Lesson 10: Bringing Out the Best:
Gospel Influence in a Broken World
Everything in the world seems to be falling apart. Our physical bodies break down, relationships crumble, and chaos reigns. But there is hope. Just as it is today, salt was used in the ancient world to preserve food. In the same way, a life transformed by the Gospel can preserve others around us who are experiencing darkness and decay.
As Christians, we are called to be “salt and light” in a decaying world. The metaphors of salt and light are powerful reminders of our purpose. Salt enhances flavor, and our presence in the lives of others can enhance their lives as well, drawing them toward Christ. Just as a small amount of light can illuminate a dark room, our lives can bring warmth and hope into the darkness of the world.
But what does it mean to be a “gospel influencer”? It's not about gaining a large following on social media or promoting products. It's about allowing Christ's power to work in and through us. When we spend time in God's presence and allow His Spirit to transform us, our lives will naturally reflect His character. As we do good deeds and live with integrity, others will see the light of Christ shining through us and be drawn to Him.
In a world that is increasingly chaotic and uncertain, we have the opportunity to be a source of stability and hope. By living out our faith in tangible ways, we can make a real difference in the lives of those around us. Let us be a preserving presence in a world that is falling apart. Let us shine brightly, reflecting the hope and salvation that we have found in Christ. Let us be salt and light, influencers for the Kingdom of God.
